Chevrolet Corvette Turn Signals

Q. We have just recently purchased a restored 1974 Chevrolet Corvette. The blinkers worked when we brought it home. They stopped working, then started working and now have stopped. The flasher has been replaced, the fuse has been checked and appears to be okay, the bulbs work, and wires have been jiggled with hopes of finding a bad/loose connection.

Do you have any other ideas where to start looking for the problem.

Robert

A. I would make sure the flasher you replaced was the turn signal flasher and not the hazard flasher. It is a common mistake to get the two confused.

Other than that there is not much I can offer. I would replace the fuse with a new one to be sure it is not a bad fuse and I would check the bulbs to be sure you have the correct bulbs in the correct sockets. It is easy to stick an 1156 bulb in an 1157 socket and that would screw things up.

Other than that it's a wiring problem.I would physically trace the wiring harness from the flasher and make sure the wires are in good shape and definitely check the grounds. Since the body is fiberglass, ground wires have to be in good shape for things to work right.
