Chevy Corsica Starts And Dies
Q. Hi, I have a 1991 Chevy Corsica with a 3.1 liter multiport V-6 with an automatic transmission. The problem I have only occurs when I have my air conditioner on. After driving for only a short distance when I decelerate and making a slow turn, or coming to a stop, the engine simply shuts off. The engine will start back up fine and run for a few seconds then instantly shuts off again with each attempt.
After allowing it to sit for a few minutes it will start and run fine with no problem as long as the A/C is not on. Highway speed driving seems fine with the A/C on. I have duplicated this situation several times to make sure it was only occurring when the A/C was on and only after decelerating making a slow turn or coming to a stop.
Check Engine Light does not come on, and no trouble codes. I might add that I just recently, last 3 weeks, installed a new TCC solenoid and replaced the MAP sensor vacuum hose.
Thank you in Advance and Best Wishes,
MarionA. Could be many things! Fuel pressure dropping off, losing spark intermittently, bad sensor on engine. Lots of things. Very possible it's losing spark due to a faulty ignition module or Crank Angle Sensor. Could even be a bad PCM. Some basic checks need to be made when it's doing it. A scan tool hooked up may lead you to a fix if you know what to look for.
