Chevy Camaro Cranks, No Start
Q. I have a 1978 Chevy Camaro. I am having a problem with the ignition that I am having a hard time diagnosing. I thought the problem was the ignition module. At times the car will crank over without firing. Sometimes if the car sits a while and when I try later, the car will start.
Other times, if I remove the distributer cap and put it right back on, the car will start. I replaced the ignition module about three years ago and the cap and rotor about one year ago. I have checked around the ignition module inside the distributer and cannot find any loose connections. Could the problem still be the ignition module? Is there something else I should be checking?
Thank you for your time...
A. How about the pick-up coil? It plugs onto the module. It also moves with the vacuum advance and those little wires break from the movement over time.
