Venture Lights Up
Q. 1998 Chevy Venture 3.4 liter, 6 cylinder, automatic 4 speed transmission with overdrive. Mileage 53,000, fuel injected, ABS braking system, A/C, P/S, no cruise, not sure if it has rack and pinion steering or not.
After having the oil changed several months ago (and a couple oil changes ago) the oil level light started coming on and staying on about 75% of the time. We have tried adjusting the gas cap, checking the oil, disconnecting the battery, all without success. We have checked the oil, even had it changed a couple times since, no change. The air bag light has started coming on around 10% of the time now also.
Can I reset the codes on the computer hookup myself? I have heard about shorting the pins together to re-set the computer. Is this an option? Have you ever heard of such a problem? I appreciate any advice/help/guidance you can give.
Thanks,
P. WaringA. Are you sure it's the oil level light and not oil pressure light? Don't know what the gas cap has to do with the oil light. Oil level light may just be a bad sensor in the pan that looks at the oil level. A pressure light would mean you need to check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. The air bag light should be check'd at the dealer!! Don't mess with it. You can't access codes on this car without a scanner. Ventures had some problems with air bag light.
