Ford Probe Oxygen Sensor Locations
Q. I have a 1996 Ford Probe and do not have a lot of money to pay someone to fix my car. Therefore I went to Auto Zone and they put the computer on my car and it says I need an O2 sensor. Could you please tell me where this is located on my 1996 Ford Probe?
Tanya
A. The oxygen sensor is threaded into the exhaust manifold. However an oxygen sensor code does not always mean the sensor is bad. If the code explanation says O2 sensor is reading rich or lean, the cause could be an indication of another component on the vehicle causing the condition. Installing a new O2 sensor won't solve this.
Since O2 sensors are something which require regular replacement I recommend you go ahead and change it if the cars never had a new one. Clear your computer's memory by disconnecting the battery while you do it and have the codes read again.
