Leaded Gasoline

Q. Hi, Thanks for your time. Can you please me with a problem I have, If I put leaded petrol in my car that has a cat fitted what would the outcome be?

My Car is a Mitsi Mivic 1600cc 175BHP but it drive like a milk float.

Can you please advise. I live in Cyprus and the garages don't have any tune up machines and they all say that's OK. But I know it's not.

Once again thanks for your time, may God Go with you.
Steve

A. Steve, the outcome would be that you would melt the converter into a pile of slag. Once it melts down, it will plug up and the engine would not run from the backup of the exhaust gas.

I don't know what the laws are regarding catalytic converters in Cyprus, but here in the States it is a $15,000.00 fine for removing it, or any other emission device. If it is legal to remove it there, then I would take it out, put in a piece of straight pipe to replace it and start using the leaded fuel.
