Dodge Caravan Dies But Will Restart

Q. I have a 1994 Dodge Caravan automatic transmission with the 3.0 liter V-6. Every four or five weeks it will just die. It starts right back up, and if you keep the RPM's up it will keep running. After dying several times, then keeping it running, the problem goes away. Sometimes it goes two months before dying again. It runs good except for this problem. Right now I have the vacuum lines for the EGR valve plugged to see if that is the problem.

Thanks,
Wes

Dodge Caravan Dies But Will Restart

A. This is going to be very difficult to track down due to the infrequency of the problem. If you have it checked when the symptoms are not manifested, everything will check out as good.

You can try pulling codes to see if anything is stored. That will help getting pointed in the right direction. If not, then the problem will likely have to become more frequent in order to have a decent chance of finding it.

About all I can offer you is to check all the electrical connectors to be sure they are clean, tight and not damaged.
