Olds Cutlass Supreme Climate Control

Q. I own a 1990 Olds Cutlass Supreme 2 door with a 3.1 liter engine. Recently the climate control unit stopped working on the heat side. The fan blows fine. The unit switches from defrost to the lower air ducts etc. okay, It just does not provide any heat.

I have checked the fluid level in the radiator and it is okay. I do know that about five years ago the climate control unit was replaced. Could this be the problem again?

Thanks,
Mike

A. You can put the system into a self diagnostic mode. Entry into the diagnostic mode is gained by depressing the "OUTS TEMP" and BI-LEV buttons at the same time. Once the diagnostic mode is entered, any trouble codes stored will be displayed. If none are present, 00 will be displayed. A two digit trouble code indicates the fault is present now. A three digit trouble code indicates an intermittent fault.

If no codes are present, then the control module has to be replaced. This is assuming the cooling system and vacuum lines are all okay.
