Nissan Headlight Problem
Q. Any idea why the driver side headlight on my 1994 Nissan truck only comes on after activating high beam? I've replaced both headlights (H6054) and both 15 amp fuses (located in engine compartment). The truck has 110,000 miles and started behaving this way about 2 weeks ago. Is there a short or maybe a breaker or relay switch that needs to be replaced?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
A. The problem is the ground wire. This is a very common problem with that particular truck for many years. What you can do to confirm this is to take a jumper wire and go from the ground terminal in the headlight connector and ground it to the battery. The light should come on.
If it doesn't, then the only other thing is the headlight switch or the wiring from the switch to the headlight (it's a straight run). You can use a test light to check for power at the headlight and if there isn't, trace the wire back to the switch.
