Cavalier Won't Work Cold

Q. Hi, I just bought a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier, 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine, ABS brakes, automatic, fuel injected, 93,000 miles and A/C. I Love the car, but from what I am hearing and starting to see, it scared the heck out of me! I hope you can help me figure out what is wrong! Only when it is cold, when I start the car, the radio, defrosters and windshield wipers do not work. Once it warms up, they will usually kick on! I know the three are all on different fuses, so I am really lost! Why would it only be effected when it is cold? PLEASE HELP if you can! I am lost and I can not afford another car at this point!

Thank you in advance!!!
Valerie

A. It's very difficult to try and diagnose something like this, even with the car in front of me. The best I can do is give you possibilities.

I would start by looking for a loose connection near the battery. Make sure all the connections are clean and tight. This is the most likely cause of your problem. Another possibility is the ignition switch. If that has a loose connection, either in the connector or internally, you might get this problem.
