Jeep Grand Cherokee Sunroof Leak

Q. Dear Vince, My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee is leaking water into the drivers' side just above the carpet and in the rear on the drivers' side. I know it is leaking from the sunroof but I don't know what to do. What do I look for to repair this problem? I know that you are overwhelmed with questions and I would really appreciate any advice and help from you.

Thank you,
Al

Jeep Grand Cherokee Sunroof Leak

A. Leaking sunroofs are a PITA. The first thing to do is to check the water drains. There are four, one at each corner. You will be able to see them when the sunroof is fully open. Best way to clear them out is with compressed air. 95% of all sun roof leaks are due to clogged water drains.

It is also possible that it leaks because it's mis-adjusted. The best way to get it readjusted is to take it to a body shop and let them do it. It's a tricky adjustment for a professional and not something I recommend to a DIY since you could make it a lot worse.

I wish I was in Philly right now. A Pats cheese steak would sure be welcome right about now.
