Chevy Lumina Sedan A/C Doesn't Work Q. I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina Sedan with approximately mileage 150,000 miles. The air conditioner has not worked since I bought it used at a repo sale. The compressor does not even come on. I replaced the fuse. I had a mechanic check the compressor. He said that it is fine and is holding a charge. What is the next step? Kristie

A. There needs to be at least 35 to 40 psi of pressure in the system to close the low side switch. You may have a bad pressure switch or control relay. You will need a schematic to diagnose this problem if the amount of charge is good enough to make A/C work.

It may even be a problem in the ECM since it controls the A/C relay. Sounds like you need to see a dealer if your mechanic can't figure it out.
