300-ZX Ready To Rumble

Q. I have a 1991 Nissan 300-ZX, manual 5 speed, 2+2. The car runs great, and is in exceptional condition except after shifting into second gear the car has feels to have a slight rumble. Then I shift into third and the rumble remains. At high speeds the rumble seems to trimble down a little. Could this be a problem with the clutch or transmission? I have had the car aligned and tires rotated.

Thanks sooooo much.
Derek

A. It could be a problem with the transmission, but I would think it's more likely the problem is with the drive shaft. It is a two piece drive shaft supported with a bearing in the center. These center bearings do go bad and can cause the noise you are hearing.

There is a countermeasure drive shaft and center bearing available for the 300ZX non-turbo built before 2/92. I would check with your Nissan dealer if it applies to your vehicle
