Pontiac Grand Am Check Engine Light
Q. Hello there! I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am, 2.4 liter, automatic transmission, 108,600 miles, and fuel injected. My Check Engine Light came on awhile ago and I also noticed that the fan was constantly running. After a few days, the light went off and the fan stopped running.
A couple of days later, the light came back on and the fan is running again. The light has been on for about a week now, fan is still running. I have also noticed that when the car has been sitting for awhile, for example, over night, it doesn't seem to want to start.
I crank it for longer than I used to, but not too much, and it sounds like it's going to start so I stop cranking it. Then it putters a little bit and won't completely start running. So I shut it off and try again and then it starts just fine. But if the engine is warmed up, it starts normal. What is wrong with my car?
A. You need to have it scanned for codes. This will lead to an area to diagnose the problem. All repairs depend on the code(s) that are stored in the PCM. All the problems may be related.
