Honda Accord Speedometer
Q. I have a 1994 5-speed Honda Accord DX and the speedometer and odometer stopped working intermittently for a few days but now it has completely stopped. The only time it runs or shows how fast I'm actually going is when I go past 65 miles on the freeway. I haven't modified anything on or in the car except put in a new clutch and I only have less than 100,000 miles on the car's engine. Please help!
A. If the speedometer, odometer and trip meter crapped out at the same time, then it is very likely the Vehicle Speed Sensor has gone bad.
Here's how to test it. I'm going to assume that Fuse #1 (10 amp) is good.

Check for continuity in the black ground wire to ground. If it shows open, repair the ground wire.
Now turn the ignition switch ON. Check for voltage at the yellow wire. There should be battery voltage. If not, check the fuse I'm assuming is good again and make sure it is good. If it is there is an open in the yellow wire.
With the ignition switch still ON, check for voltage at the orange wire. There should be about 5 volts. If not, the wire between the PCM and the VSS is open.
