Toilet Paper Filter
Q. Hi, My name is Marilyn and I am looking for a filter that my father used to buy from the inventor in Redlands, California back in the sixties. I don't remember the man's name offhand, but I believe the name of the filter was Franz and it used toilet paper to filter the oil. Best filter ever made. Once installed, the roll of paper only had to be changed once a month, not the oil. Then a quart of oil was added to replace what was left in the paper when changed. It super cleaned the oil.
Do you have any information or knowledge if this even exists anymore? I have looked all over the web and I haven't seen a listing in a phone directory in years. When my father bought the first filter and installed it in his Chevy truck, it had been running with a standard type filter since purchased, maybe two years, with regular changes, etc., but with the first filter change, the top of the roll of paper was covered solid with metal filings that had not been caught with the regular filters. It took about three changes before we didn't see any more metal dust. It was amazing! My dad then bought another for his car.
Any way, any help you can give me would really be appreciated.
Sincerely,
MarilynA. This is weird Marilyn, but about two weeks ago I was talking to an old-timer and he was telling me about the same filter. He used it in his cars and swore by it. He said it was a shame they didn't make them any more. I had never heard of it before that time so I did a little research on it.
Well guess what? They are still made and you can buy them from a company called We Filter It in Oregon City, Oregon. They have a web site with information and pricing on them.
