Ford Taurus Seat Bolts

Q. Hi Vince, 1997 Ford Taurus. The two front bolts on the frame of the driver's seat (power seat) are loose and can't seem to be tightened. They'll stay in the hole, but they are not grabbing anything. The bolts have about 1/8"-1/4" at the bottom with no threads, apparently by design. Am I somehow missing an exact spot they have to be placed in order to tighten them or is there another reason they won't tighten?

Fortunately, the back one's are fine, but I'd sure like to tighten the front ones.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Ed

A. That is a problem. Under the floor there are two nuts welded to the floor pan. Either these nuts, somehow, were sheared off or they are stripped out. If you get under the car you may see them. In any case new nuts will have to be welded on and new bolts installed.
