Chevy Caprice ABS Light On, Car Off
Q. Well, I bought this car about one month ago and when I purchased it, the ABS light was on whenever I had the engine running or was driving the car. I figured if I got the brakes replaced, this would take care of the ABS light. After getting the brakes done, the light was still on so I figured I would check the fuse; it's blown.
I went and bought a new fuse, and now the light goes off when the engine is on and I'm driving around. The problem is, the light comes on when I turn the car OFF, and I'm totally confused by this. Why would the ABS light come on when I turn the car completely off and remove the key, but not when I turn the engine on? Also, when I plug the new fuse in I can hear something under the car clicking like its engaging then the ABS light comes on.

DarenA. Sounds like a short in the ABS system. You may need a scanner and a wiring diagram to narrow it down. The ABS control module is under the hood near the drivers side of the radiator. You could try to unplug it and see if the light goes out. If so, this would tell me that the short is in the module, not the harness.
