Nissan Hardbody Pickup Lights

Q. I have a 1987 Nissan pickup 4 cylinder, 5 speed, and 2-wheel drive with a lighting problem. The right headlight works intermittently on high beam. Left headlight works only on low beam. I replaced both lights this morning. Everything is still the same.

Tested contacts at each bulb. Have juice on low on both sides until I plug in the right headlight, then lose it till I remove the bulb and let set for a time. Also right high has juice till I plug in the bulb. Any ideas??

Baffled in Idaho

A. Dear Baffled, (Gee, I feel like Ann Landers) The most common cause of this problem on Nissan trucks was the ground wire for the headlights. You not only need to check the power side, you need to check the ground side. I have seen this happen many, many times. I usually wing up installing new ground wires to fix it.
