Acura Integra Four Wheel Brake Job
Q. Hi Sir, I have been going through this forum for brake job estimate related posting's and articles. I recently got a brake job done. The initial reason I took it in was because one of the front brake pads was worn off and there was squealing noise, probably coming from the wear indicator when I braked. Anyways, the shop came up with the following:
- Brake pad replacement for all 4 wheels.
- Lubing and cleaning the calipers on all 4 wheels.
- Resurfacing the rotors on all 4 wheels.
The total estimate including labor was: $354.00. I went ahead with the job as they said even though I was initially planning to only get one or two brake pads replaced which would have cost me like $100.00. Is this price reasonable you think?
- 2000 Acura Integra GS sedan
- 1.8 liter 4 cylinder
- Automatic transmission
- 65,000 miles
- Fuel injection
- ABS brakes
- P/S, A/C, Cruise control
Thanks and Bye
BalaA. The price does seem just a little high, but not unreasonably so.
I can price it for you as if you were my customer. Front brake pads, from the Acura dealer, would run about $47.00 and the rears about $53.00. About 2.5 hours labor for replacing the pads and machining the rotors at $70.00 an hour is $175.00.
So parts and labor is $275.00 plus cleaning chemicals, disposal fees and tax would put the job in the neighborhood of about $300.00.
