Dodge Caravan Ready To Rumble
Q. I have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan whose rear-end, I think drivers side, started "rumbling" just as I had all four tires replaced. I had the tires re-balanced, and even changed to another brand, still the rumbling continues. I thought it might be a bad wheel bearing, but when I visited my local parts and discount parts store, they informed me there were not parts I could get to repair rear wheel/bearings/axle, etc.
It has 15 inches wheels, front wheel drive, with A/C and cruise. The rumbling starts at about 15 miles per hour, and increases as the speed increases. Does not seem to be any unusual tire wear after driving 5,000 with this problem. Any ideas?
Thanks,
JoeA. It is possible the a rear wheel bearing is bad. If you have definitely eliminate the tires as the cause of the noise, the rear wheel bearings are the most likely cause of the noise. If you make some quick left and right turns and the noise has a definite change, then it is almost certainly a rear wheel bearing.
