Bucking Chevy Lumina Euro

Q. Dear Vincent, At cruising speed under light to no acceleration, my car (sometimes) begins to buck as if the transmission were slamming in and out of gear or as if the torque converter was locking and unlocking. Or, engine fuel was being rapidly cut on and off. Any first thoughts?

A. Either is very possible. You may try to lightly apply the brakes when it does it. This should electrically disconnect the TCC through the brake switch. If this stops the "bucking", the switch could be out of adjustment or the TCC needs to be looked at. Are you sure it's not ignition cutting out? Possibly the plugs or wires missing?
