Accura Blows Up
Q. I have an 1990 Accura Integra GS, with 196,000 miles. The four cylinder engine is stock with the exception of an aftermarket cold air intake. I had also recently purchased four new Bosch +4 spark plugs. A few days ago, my car was in route to LA from San Diego. A few miles down the road, my car went into severe lurching and loss of power. A friend of mine was following me, said white smoke was coming out of the tailpipe. I got it off the freeway, the motor stalled and wouldn't restart. I opened the hood and white smoke came from the engine from an unknown source. I checked the oil for water, none. I checked the water for oil, none. I have spark from the plugs, and I have a half tank of gas in the car. I would very much like to find out what is wrong. The auto repair places by my house is closed on Sundays, so any help would be nice.
Thank you,
RichieA. It sounds like one of two things have happened. Either the head gasket has blown or the timing belt let go. From the amount of smoke you described, it is more likely the head gasket.
