Accura Legend LS Fails The Test
Q. God! Am at it again. Please I do need your help badly now. I have a 1990 Accura Legend LS and it failed the emission test. 1, failed the HC-hydrocarbon and 2. failed the carbon monoxide. Please tell what could cause the these failures, although the check engine light comes on while in motion. I do hope I don't have to change a major part because I'm flat broke and the tag expires in just a day. PLEASE help me before I'm being run underground with tickets from the cops.

A. Well BJ, the first thing you should do is give it a good tune up. A cap, rotor, ignition wires and I would highly recommend NGK brand spark plugs in that car will help bring your emissions down quite a bit. Now, if the check engine light is coming on, the computer has detected a malfunction. It could be an O2 sensor or any of 25 or 30 other things. The only way to find out for sure is to have the codes pulled and see what they are.
Hopefully the tune up will take care of it for you. In the future keep in mind that due to the volume of mail I get, I run 3 or 4 days between getting a question and posting the answers.
