Starting Problem
Q. I have a 1988 Chevy C-30 4x4, 350. The truck failed to start with the key. I replaced the starter, the start switch on the steering column, checked the clutch switch, still can not turn over the started with the key. I can start the truck with a remote start switch. Is there a fuse link or relay or some thing between the key and the starter?

A. You need to check the purple wire at the starter first for voltage when key is in start. If no voltage, you need to re-check the ignition switch, the clutch switch and the wire out to starter for 12 volts when key is turned to start. Somewhere you will find your problem. There could be a blown fusible link under hood on firewall on passenger side of the truck under the black plastic cover.
