BMW 528i ABS Light On Q. Dear Vince, Hi, I am having a new problem in my 1996 BMW 528i running 225,000 kilometers. Yesterday, the air bag light came on in the dashboard and it did not go as it used to earlier. It is still on. What could have gone wrong? Somebody told me that there are sensors below the seats.

I normally uses a foldable sun screen for the wind screen which I use to fold and keep under the seats. I did nothing unusual except this. Did I trigger off something by chance? Please help me as u did before... I need it.

A. The ABS light is on because a malfunction has been detected in the system. DTC's can only be extracted, diagnosed and cleared by the BMW Diagnosis and Information System (DIS) or MoDiC, a required special tool, or an appropriate aftermarket equivalent.

All information regarding DTC's for this model is contained within the BMW Diagnosis and Information System (DIS) or MoDiC. The manufacture does not provide any other information on how to pull codes, trouble code descriptions, diagnosis and testing of trouble codes or how to clear codes.
