Pontiac Firebird Rear View Mirror Q. Hello Vince, Thanks for being the resource you are! I was wondering if you could inform me of how to replace the side-view mirrors on a 1998 Pontiac Firebird. I hope it does not involve taking off the entire door interior, but it looks as if it may. Also, what's "behind there" in terms of wiring and how does it come off and reattach?

FYI - I do have power mirrors on both sides. Please help.

A. I'm not sure if the whole panel needs to come off. If there is a small triangle piece behind the mirror, you may be able to pop it off to get to the bolts. Those panels just have little spring clips holding them on. As for the panels, you need to remove switches. plate for handle, two or three hidden screws and lift up on panel to remove them. If you can't handle it, ask someone to show you on one and then you could do the other yourself.
