Another Mazda Clutch Cable

Q. I have a question about a 1988 Mazda 626. I just bought it cheap because it needed brake lines. I replaced the lines and took it for a ride and the clutch doesn't seem to be working properly. When you accelerate the tach slowly climbs up but the car only slowly accelerates.

I noticed a cable that comes off of the transmission and I think that it goes to the clutch pedal, is this an adjustment for the clutch? The clutch pedal comes up really high before the clutch begins to grab. I'm not a transmission expert so hopefully you can give me some pointers.

Thanks,
Joe

A. Yep, that's the clutch cable and it is adjustable. Although I can't find a book that shows a Mazda with a clutch cable. I did answer a question like yours last week. You can read it here: Mazda Clutch Cable?
