Dodge Spirit Wheel Bearing Noise?
Q. Hi Vincent. I have tried to repair a 1993 Dodge Spirit with a grinding noise in the right wheel. The noise occurs when at highway speeds and the wheel is turned to handle bends or turns in the road, and appears to come from the right side I have tried replacing the bearings, on the right side, and the noise is still there.
Could the new bearings be faulty? It is still being driven by the original owner, an elderly lady.
Thanks for your input,
DariusA. It sure sounds, no pun intended, like a bad wheel bearing. If the noise gets louder when turning to the right, it is a bad left wheel bearing. If it makes noise turning left, it is a bad right wheel bearing.
I would try rotating the tires before putting in another wheel bearing. It may be a bad tire causing the noise. It is also possible for the noise to appear to come from the right when it is actually coming from the left side.
