Car Seat In A F-150

Q. I recently purchased a 1988 Ford Lariat F150 extended pick up as a second vehicle. The truck has a bench in the back and I would like to install tether bolts for my children's car seats. I have contacted my local ford dealer and they have not been able to give me any support or information on this. If you can help or give some advice as to where I can find information, please let me know.

Thank you.

A. As far as I know, pick up trucks with the rear bench seats were not designed to accept a car seat other than a seat belt attached type.

Ford should have that information. If the local dealer can't or won't provide it, then you can try other Ford dealers or call the Ford customer Service number.

Those numbers are:
1-800-392-3673 (FORD/MERCURY)
1-800-521-4140 (LINCOLN)

Failing that I think your best bet to get accurate information about installing the tether bolts would be a body shop. They would know best where they should be placed for maximum safety.
