Mazda Protege Towing Capacity Q. Hi! My husband and I own a 2001 Mazda Protege, 2.0 litre engine, annual transmission. It has 30,000 kilometers. We would like to have a trailer hitch installed on our car, but we have often asked the question to specialists, including Mazda dealers, and no one can tell us how much weight we can pull with our car.

All Mazda Web sites indicate N/A as for the towing capacity of the car. Some garages are willing to install us a hitch, but none can give us details on the towing capacity of the vehicle. We would like to pull a small camping trailer, which weighs approximately 1,000 pounds. I would like to have your opinion on the subject.
