Isuzu Impulse Has A Dead Hole
Q. I have a 1988 Isuzu Impulse. It had a no start condition. It is a 2.3 liter with an automatic transmission. It has 150,000 miles and is fuel injected. I recently took it to a repair shop to get a diagnosis. I was told water was in the fuel tank which caused the car not to start. I have since then drained the tank and replaced it with fresh fuel. I also had a tune-up done on this car.
When I started the car after replacing the fuel it ran as if the plug wires were reversed but that wasn't a problem. I pulled the plugs and number one cylinder wasn't firing. I checked the timing and tested number one plug wire to see if it was firing. All checks out but the problem still persists. Could the water in the fuel have damaged the fuel injector? I would like any suggestions you may have.
Thank You,
WarrenA. It is a very definite possibility. If the spark plug wire and spark plug are good, and the cylinder has compression, the fuel injector is one of two only things left.
The other is a bad PCM. But that can be checked by plugging a noid light into the #1 injector connector and seeing if it flashes while the engine is running. If it does, bad injector.
