Buick Brake Fade

Q. While waiting at a stop light with foot on the brake, the brake pedal will slowly fade down about 1/2 " after approx. 15 seconds.

  • 1993 Buick LeSabre, 3.8
  • 53000 mi.
  • ABS
  • P/S, A/C, Cruise

Had complete brake job done at 43,000 miles, no apparent leaks, master cylinder full. My thoughts, needs bleeding. No hissing sounds to indicate a leaking check valve.

Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks

A. I agree, I think there is a little air in the system that needs to be bled out.

I would recommend a brake fluid flush and fill with new fluid and a good bleeding. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and deteriorates over time, that's why it should be changed every two years. With an ABS system, I would recommend it be vacuum bled instead of the standard method. Most ABS systems have to be vacuum bled to insure all the air is bled out.
