Honda Accord Power Antenna

Q. Dear Sir, I have a 1995 Honda Accord with a power antenna that groans whenever raised or retracted. The noise is from the gears grinding because to motor does not stop when the antenna is fully raised or lowered. The timing seems to be off. I was wondering if you've come across this problem before and if there is any way to set the antenna "timing." I hope to avoid buying a new antenna.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
Joe

A. I know the noise you mean, and it is annoying, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it. I have had a fair amount of success resolving this by installing a new antenna mast. The plastic ribbon gear wears and, I think, tends to slip a lot. If yours has a replaceable mast, I would try that.
