Camaro EGR
Q. Hello, I've been having some issues with my car lately. It's a 1995 Camaro Z28 with a 5.7 liter V-8 engine. It has a manual transmission with about 106,000 miles on it. It's fuel injected, ABS brakes, all the electronic goodies (A/C, P/S). A while back my car would seem to start and then idle real rough.
As I stepped on the gas it would not rev. up hardly at all and sounded like pure crap. Usually the problem would seem to go away after about five minutes of flooring the gas and getting it going down the road. This only happened once in a great while, and then it got worse. Eventually it seemed to happen maybe once a week. Once it got bad enough I couldn 't get the car going down the road and it just died and wouldn 't start. I let it sit for about a day and decided to try the fuel filter.
After replacing the fuel filter (which didn 't seem bad) it did start up and start working. The problem soon came back after about a week, and then after trying to change the fuel filter again it was again not bad. Since then the problem has still come and gone. I just got my codes on the car read and it came back with a code 32 which is an EGR error. What can I do without taking it in to fix or find out what is wrong with my car?
Thanks for the help!
TroyA. You can check your EGR valve for being stuck open. It's on the back of the intake manifold, black valve with a vacuum hose to it. I'm puzzled by the fuel filter replacement making it run better. If you take another one off it, try blowing through it in the direction of fuel flow and see if it's restricted. You may have something in the tank.
