Honda Accord Cabin Air Filter
Q. My car dealer informs me that I need to replace my 1999 Honda Accord air conditioner filter because when I sit in the car and turn on the A/C, a funny type of smell comes in. This will cost $129.00, which I think is very, very high cost. Do you have any suggestions if I can do it myself, or take it to a garage who can do it cheaper?
Thanks,
Pankaj
Herndon, VAA. Well, if you are fairly handy and have a few basic tools, I don't see why you can't replace it yourself. It's really very easy Here's how to do it.

- Remove the filter lid (A) from the evaporator, then pull out the lower A/C filter assembly (B) and the upper A/C filter assembly in that order.

- Remove the A/C filter (A) from the filter housing (B). Replace the A/C filter according to the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the evaporator.
