Questions and Answers

Ford Recall?

Q. Vince, thanks for your help in the past.

New question for you - do you think my car is included in the recent news about the faulty ignition modules on the distributors? How can I check this myself?

Thanks again, Rich

A. There is some debate over whether this is going to be a recall. From what I understand, a Judge ordered the recall but the only one who can order a recall is the National Highway Safety and Transportation Administration.

If it is indeed found to be a manufacturing defect, either NHSTA or Ford will order the vehicles recalled. If they are recalled owners of the affected vehicles will be notified and new modules will be installed at no cost to the owners.

There is nothing to really check, it either works or it doesn't. I'm keeping an eye on this and if I hear anything new, I'll let everyone know.
