Ranger Check Engine Light

Q. Hey Vince, my sister has a 1997 Ford Ranger with the inline 4 motor, manual transmission and as far as I know it is fuel injected. She says the check engine light comes on sometimes when she is driving. She had the oxygen sensor changed and it did not solve the problem. What do you think it is?

Mike

A. There are quite a few things that will cause the check engine light to come on. About all I can say is they it's probably not due to a bad O2 sensor since it was replaced. You're going to have to pull the codes from the computer to see what they are and that will provide a starting place for diagnosis.
