Grand Am Power Windows

Q. I have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am GT that has only 29,000 that the power windows sometimes will not go all the way up, and if you let it set for a few minutes it will go up. Is this the motor or is this a switch? Is the motor very hard to replace and that if it's the switch how can you tell.

Thanks,
Mike

A. Sounds like the motors are worn out. they have circuit breakers inside them that cut out when overheated. You need to check for power at the motor when this happens to make sure. You will need to remove the door panel and possibly the window regulator to get the motor off. This requires some drilling of rivets and installing new rivets. Also need to be careful of dropping the glass inside the door!
