Diesel Turbo

Q. Hi, I own a 1984 Ford F-250 3/4 ton pick up truck with 333,000 kilometers (200,000 miles) on an International 6.9 liter diesel engine. I would like to know if I can install an after market turbo? If so, would it increase my power and fuel efficiency? How much might I expect to pay to have it installed?

I live in Canada.

Steve

A. You can get an aftermarket Turbocharger kit for that engine. The advantages of having a turbo is that it will increase power, performance and fuel milage. The disadvantage is the cost, the kit will run about $3300.00 plus installation. I never put a kit like this in and there is no labor guide listing for it so I would have to guess that it would probably run another $500.00 to $600.00 to install.
