Grand Am Water Pump Q. I need to get a hold of a motor manual for a 1999 Grand Am A.S.A.P. my water pump went out and I can't get the thing out. my Dad, and Grand Dad and I all tried to get it out and no matter how many things we try, it can't be done. What's holding it in?? We took out all the nuts and bolts ect. to no avail.

Please tell me I don't have to take the manifold out to take it out. Also, is the water pump attached to the timing belt??

A. What engine is it??? I'm guessing a Quad-4. This is a bear job! Yes, the pump is driven by the timing chain. Not a DIY job if you ask me. The front cover needs to be removed to get chain off.
