Becoming A Nissan Technician

Q. Hi Mr. Ciulla: I am interested in finding a training program in the Tacoma, WA area for my 19 year old son to become a Certified Nissan Mechanic. I've looked around the web and in the local phone book, but I don't see anything. Any insight you could provide would be wonderful.

Thank you,
Marilyn

Becoming A Nissan Technician

A. The only way to do this is for him to land a job at a Nissan Dealer who will send him to the Nissan Training center to become a registered technician. I know, I went through it.

As soon as he takes the first class he will be registered and then he works his way up. It will take a minimum of five years to attain Nissan Master Technician status. To achieve this he will have to take, and pass, all the ASE certification tests and all the required Nissan courses and yearly product Orientation classes.

Nissan will only accept students that are currently employed by a Nissan Dealer.
