Dodge Shadow Not Getting Fuel

Q. Hello Vince, This is Dave. You helped me out with a problem on my Dodge Shadow a few months back. Now I have another one. For some reason the fuel is not making it's way to the engine. The fuel pump still makes its whirring sound when you turn the key. I replaced the fuel filter in case it was clogged. Still no go.

Dodge Shadow Not Getting Fuel

I detached the fuel lines one at a time going into the throttle body, not a recommended procedure I know but when you're stranded in a parking lot..., and cranked it over a few times to see if anything would come out. Nothing. If you pour a little gas into the throttle body the car will run for a few seconds but that's it. Can you recommend anything else to check?

  1. 1991 Dodge Shadow
  2. 2.2 litre SOHC
  3. Automatic transmission
  4. 160,000 kilometers
  5. Fuel Injected
  6. P/S, A/C

Thanks very much for your time.
Dave

A. Dave, it sounds to me like your fuel bump bought the ranch. If you can hear the pump run and no fuel comes out of the line, it's dead.

At this point all you can do is confirm there is power at the fuel pump. The dark green/black wire should be hot and the black wire is ground.
