Chevy Silverado A/C Problem

Q. I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado. It has 5.7 liter engine, automatic transmission, 120,000 miles, fuel injection, ABS brakes, P/S, A/C and cruise control. Has a problem with the A/C. When you turn the A/C on the compressor kicks in and out continuously real fast. I have already replaced compressor switch and relay.

When it acts like this it also makes a growling noise. If you are running high rpms it will eventually kick in and work right. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Barry

A. You really need to put a set of pressure gauges on it to see what's happening. Could be a weak magnet behind the clutch, bad low pressure switch on the accumulator, or low on charge.
