Ford F-150 Stalls In Drive

Q. I have a 1990 Ford F-150 Pickup truck with a 5.0 liter engine and automatic transmission. The vehicle starts but, when put into gear to drive, it stalls out. Can you give me some ideas as to what might be wrong with it?

Thank you,
Joe

Ford F-150 Stalls In Drive

A. There are a number of things that can cause an engine to stall when put into drive. Here is a chart listing all the possibilities. The most likely are the TCC being stuck on or an ignition problem. If the engine runs smoothly while in neutral, the stuck on TCC becomes more likely.
