GMC Jimmy Won't Start

Q. I have a 1988 S15 GMC Jimmy 4WD. It has a 2.3 liter V-6 engine that is TBI injected. It has power steering, A/C, automatic transmission and power brakes. The truck will turn over just fine, it gets good blue spark and plenty of fuel spray from injectors. The plugs and wires are new and the timing chain and gears are new. But the truck won't even try to start.

GMC Jimmy Won't Start

It has 20,170 miles on the odometer. Rotor always points at number one spark tower when timing marks align. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

A. Why was the timing chain replaced? If it broke while running the valves may have hit the pistons and bent. Check compression first. Second, if the timing marks on the gears are pointing at each other, the distributor needs to point at the fourth cylinder in the firing order. In other words, it's 180° out of time. Try pulling it out and turning it to face the opposite cylinder.
