Chevy Cavalier Pulls To The Right
Q. I have a 1991 Chevy Cavalier RS 4 door with a 4 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, 110,700 miles, P/S and A/C. I recently developed a strong pull to the right when driving. I put on new front disc brakes, Bendix, and rotors. As a side note, the disc brakes had lasted about 16 months or about 15,000 miles.
The left wheel disc brake outer pad was worn out down to the wear indicator, the inner pad was in good shape. The right wheel disc brakes had plenty of life left. Neither the inner or outer pad was worn much.
After the brake job, I still had the pull, so I took the car in for an alignment. The car was not out of alignment, the tire rod ends and ball joints were all good. The tires were rotated to the back. The pull was still there.
Thinking it might be a caliper problem, I replaced both front calipers. The pull to the right is still there. Any suggestions on what might be the problem? Any help is appreciated!
A. How about the brake hoses? They can deteriorate internally and make it pull to one side. Also check the motor mounts for separation.
