An Exhausting Job

Q. I have a '72 Chevy Nova with a 307 engine and single exhaust.

I'm replacing the whole exhaust system. I took the old system down and now I'm having trouble aligning the big exhaust pipe that comes from the manifolds to the exhaust pipe that connects to the muffler. The new pipe is identical to the old one. What I'm i doing wrong? The pipe goes to far out in the driver side.Thank you in advance.

Felix

A. It takes a little maneuvering to get that pipe in, but if it's the right "Y" pipe, it should fit. I would make sure it's the correct pipe. I suspect it isn't.

Without seeing it, there's not much more I can do for you.
