Acura Integra Not Starting
Q. I own a 1994 Acura Integra LS, of late it been giving me starting troubles. When I start it for the first time in the morning sometimes it does not start and some other times the engine revs up and slowly stalls, once the car starts it runs fine. This does not always happen but at least once a day.
I took the car to a local repair shop and they could not find what the problem was, if I take it to a Honda dealer I am sure he will whip me. I am just a student and cannot afford huge repairs. I would be very grateful if you could advice me on this.
Thanks,
SteveA. When you say it won't start, do you mean No Crank, or Cranks No Start?
If it is No Crank, then you need to check for voltage with a test light at the small wire on the starter with the key in the START position. If you have power there with the key in the START position, you have a bad starter. If not, then, most likely, there is a problem with the ignition switch.
If it is Cranks No Start we need to determine what is missing, spark or fuel. You can check for spark by taking a spark plug wire off and plugging a spark plug into it. Lay the spark plug on the engine, insuring a good ground and crank the engine. If there is a bright blue spark, you have a fuel problem.
