Saturn SL2 Reverse Gear Problems

Q. I have a 1992 Saturn SL2 with a manual transmission and 148,000 miles. Recently, in reverse, the clutch has popped out of gear. Then, also in reverse, a few days later the engine was getting less power than usual so I began to apply gas, until the gear eventually died out and was not getting any of the gas I was applying.

Saturn SL2 Reverse Gear Problems

I fixed this by going into neutral and then back into reverse. I would like to know the possible problem with my vehicle.

Thank you,
Sara

A. Sounds like you may have a worn shifter fork inside the transmission. This would explain the popping out of gear. As for the other problem, maybe it's going into two gears at the same time due to linkage problems? Better get it looked at before some real damage is done.
